Pajno Suites & Apartments
Pajno Suites: a frescoed ceiling above Palermo's evening stroll.
Inside a historic palazzo between Teatro Massimo and the Politeama, Pajno Suites & Apartments has been restored without erasing what was already there: vaulted ceilings with stucco rosettes, cornices traced by soft indirect light and, in the main bedroom, a fully frescoed ceiling of painted coffers, Greek-key borders and bouquets of flowers suspended above the bed. There are three double bedrooms. The frescoed suite has two French windows onto the balcony, a Versailles-pattern parquet floor and period armchairs in floral fabric; the other two, more intimate, have vaulted ceilings, velvet headboards and French windows over the street. Two bathrooms, both with showers, are clad in glazed tiles in shades of sea blue and mustard. The tall, bright living room brings together the equipped kitchen and a period round table, with a balcony overlooking a stone-built corner of the old city. From the balconies you watch the evening stroll along Via Ruggero Settimo, Palermo's pedestrian shopping street, which lights up with stalls after dark. Teatro Massimo is a few minutes on foot, as are the Politeama and Via Libertà; the Quattro Canti and the Cathedral are an easy walk down Via Maqueda.
