Private excursion to the Archaeological Park of Selinunte — temples, acropolis and the sea of southern Sicily.
Selinunte is one of the most extraordinary Greek archaeological sites in the Mediterranean — and one of the least crowded. An entire Hellenic city, founded in the 7th century BC and destroyed by the Carthaginians in 409 BC, today preserved across 270 hectares that descend to the sea. Temples, acropolis, necropolis, city walls: a landscape with the grandeur of classical Greece and the light of southern Sicily. With a private driver from Palermo, you arrive when the site is still cool and almost empty.
Pickup at your accommodation. Approximately one hour thirty minutes' transfer to Castelvetrano through western Sicily.
Entrance to the site. Visit to the Eastern Hill: Temple E (dedicated to Hera, partially reconstructed), Temple F and the great Temple G — one of the largest Doric temples ever built in antiquity. Then on to the Acropolis with Temples A, B, C (the oldest, 6th century BC) and D, with views over the ancient harbour and the beach below.
Lunch at the site café or in Marinella di Selinunte, the small fishing village adjacent to the park (we recommend a trattoria on the seafront).
Departure towards Palermo. Arrival at your accommodation by 15:00.
